My hero..........

Photographer and artist Lisa Law, who created the film, FLASHING ON THE 60s,  described Wavy Gravy as the only person she knew who hears no ego, sees no ego, speaks no ego.

I'd like to think that one day someone will feel this way about ME!!!!

...and we shall all understand...

I have loved this quote for many, many years, and was prompted to search for it again after a few more descents into hell today. I need to remind myself of this on a daily basis!

"It is difficult to hold on sometimes----but someday beyond out tears and all the world's wrongs; beyond the clouds and all we can see and touch....

there will be love and compassion and justice; and we shall all understand."

plucking blackberries.........

2013 note:  This is *still* profoundly brilliant to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

plucking blackberries..........

Current mood:contemplative
Earth's crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God; But only he who sees, takes off his shoes - The rest sit round it and pluck blackberries.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning
i think i need to start paying attention to the burning bushes.....

come to the edge

2013 note: See?  It's blogs and beautiful ideas like this that I need to reread, and reread, and REREAD!!!

come to the edge

Current mood:contemplative

i have a friend who buys used books from a library in her neighborhood and then passes them along to me. it's a cheap (meaning: FREE) way to read a lot of good books, and i also end up reading things that i normally wouldn't have bought or picked for myself such as hume cronyn's autobiography! i'm not really familiar with his work, but he included this poem by christopher logue twice in his book, and i fell in love with it.

Come to the edge.
We might fall.
Come to the edge.
It's too high!
COME TO THE EDGE!!
So they came
and he pushed

and they flew.

he also included this quote from the director of one of his plays, sir tyrone (tony) guthrie. it's about theatre:
It is to show mankind to himself, and thereby to show to man, GOD's image.

i'm glad she passed this book along to me....and that i actually READ it. these two things alone made it worth it. thanks hume. rest in peace.

when we were beautiful:

just watched bon jovi's "when we were beautiful" and had a good cry. thanks to the jovi boys for touching my life once again. how many times have they managed to do it in the past 30 years? :) i lost count 20 years ago.

life isn't easy for me right now..........i am TRULY 'livin' on a prayer' ....and the honesty and candor they showed in the film did me more good than they will ever know! sometimes we find blessings in the oddest of places, altho after all these years, i certainly shouldn't be surprised when bon jovi is the vehicle for one. like i said.....it isn't the first time and i'm quite sure it won't be the last. thank you, LORD, for that gift.

now.....just let me be able to afford to go see them the next time they come to town..........

time stand still.....

i've been on a rush kick for the past few days, so the few of you who read this can most likely expect to see alot of rush lyrics coming up! lol!! the thing is....not only are these guys stellar muscians, but lyric wise they have some of the most amazing songs ever written. this one really hits home........especially with all that's been going on with me lately!

I turn my back to the wind
To catch my breath
,Before I start off again
Driven on,
Without a moment to spend
To pass an evening
With a drink and a friend
I let my skin get too thin
Id like to pause,
No matter what I pretend
Like some pilgrim --
Who learns to transcend --
Learns to live
As if each step was the end

Time stand still --
Im not looking back
But I want to look around me now
See more of the people
And the places that surround me now

Freeze this moment
A little bit longer
Make each sensation
A little bit stronger
Experience slips away...

I turn my face to the sun
Close my eyes,
Let my defences down --
All those wounds
That I cant get unwound
I let my past go too fast
No time to pause --
If I could slow it all down
Like some captain,
Whose ship runs aground --
I can wait until the tide
Comes around

Make each impression
A little bit stronger
Freeze this motion
A little bit longer
The innocence slips away...

Summers going fast --
Nights growing colder
Children growing up --
Old friends growing older
Experience slips away...

love anyway

i have a new motto: LOVE ANYWAY. regardless of what happens, or how i get treated, with GOD's help i'm going to love, love, love and love some more...........ANYWAY!! it's incredible how much keeping these two little words in the forefront of my mind has helped me to be more like the "old sami*!!!!" now...i just have to keep repeating it like a mantra over and over.

new beginnings

here's what an "intuitive" told me in the wee, early hours of 2008:

>>YOur guides name is Angelina she is your counselor guide. Her message for you is to put yourself first. I know its going to be hard because you do everything for everyone. <<
and, i should mention....she doesn't know me. hmmm. or? maybe she does.

anyway.....i'm glad to see 2008! i'm hoping this year i will be able to find my passion again, and not be "sad eyes" anymore. my resolution is to become more in tune......that much i *know* i can do.....and to not let others get me down like i have let myself do in the past year. it's totally contrary to my nature and it HAS TO STOP!

the sky this evening near sunset looked like a maxfield parrish painting. what a gift....and i'm going to take it as a good omen for this year, altho my mood was parrish blue most of the day!
