still a weirdo!

i have to thank one of my dearest friends, sunny aka silver feather, for sharing the lyrics of this new k t tunstall song with me. i haven't actually heard the song yet, but the words sure do resonate. apparently, i'm not the only one who feels this way. there's strength in numbers, yeah?

No I know I took for granted that things

Would always go the way I wanted, oh

I was going to be a treetop

A sea, a boat, a rock of ages I don’t always get it right

I’d see it in a different kind of light Pay my lip service

Keep it eloquent

Optimistic but

Never quite elegant

Still a weirdo

Still a weirdo, after all these years

I’d always thought it’s automatic

To grow into a soul less static

But here I am upon the same spot

Attempting to lift off into space I don’t always get it right

But a thousand different ways

And I just might Pay my lip service

Keep it eloquent

Optimistic but

Never quite elegant

Still a weirdo

Still a weirdo, after all these year

sStill a weirdo

Still a weirdo, after all these years

bye bye ronny

on our drive to jekyll island last week i discovered that there is nothing better than driving thru the deep south and listening to the ARS. then i thought: i need to blog about that when i get home! i couldn't have been more shocked when ronny hammond passed away the day we returned to atlanta. i have always been a fan of the rhythm section, and nowadays when i listen to the songs i take such a lovely magical mystery tour.....back in time when life was easier and slower and being southern meant something to me. i thought i knew what life was about back then, and never wanted to leave the deep south. the mindset of those days still has its place in my dreams, and i'm thankful for ARS's music and spanish moss to remind me of it.....even if now i know that it really was a pipe dream. (third annual? maybe.... smile) i'll miss you ronny, but we'll have a large time jukin' at the champagne jam in the sky! peace, brother!

do it for love...........

have you ever bought an album or cd and not really connected with it until much, much later? i've been a fan of hall and oates since about 1975...way before it was cool. i remember being made fun of for being a fan, answering the question "hall and who??" and being able to get front row seats to their shows easily because, well, nobody wanted to go see them but me. LOL! i fell away for a minute or two in the 80s when the airwaves were oversaturated with them, but i never stopped being a fan, and in the last few years i've gone to see them again a couple of times and i still listen to them often. i bought "do it for love" when it came out in 2003. i remember thinking it had some nice tunes on it, but it didn't really "click" with me. i suppose i was probably in a heavier phase at that time.....i don't really know. but: popped the cd in the player today and completely and totally fell in love! what a collection of tunes! there isn't a weak song on the album, and some are so incredible that they leave me breathless. it just struck me as funny that i've had this cd in my collection for 8 years......and am JUST NOW realizing how marvelous it is. LOL! maybe it was meant for me here.....for me now. thanks to daryl and john as always, for being one of the biggest joys of my life. i acknowledged again today, that i can be in the worst of moods, and the music of H&O can touch my soul and lift me up. what a gift.

wild flower...........

i was a kid when "wildflower" by skylark was a hit, and not only did i love it because it was a beautiful song, but i always related to it on some level.....almost felt like it was written FOR me. that would have been odd at the time, because, as i said, i was just a young girl. recently....our local oldies station has started putting the song in their rotation, and every time i hear it....again....it touches something in my soul because i relate to it so deeply. it's a heartbreaking song, but as my heart breaks often, i can still be thankful for such a release! thank you writers and skylark!

She's faced the hardest times,

You could imagine

And many times,

Her eyes fought back the tears

And when her youthful world,

Was about to fall in

Each time her slender shoulders,

Bore the weight of all her fears

And a sorrow no one hears

Still rings in midnight silence

In her ears

Let her cry,

For she's a lady

Let her dream

For she's a child

Let the rain,

Fall down upon her

She's a free and gentle flower

Growing wild

And if by chance,I should hold her

Let me hold her for a time

But if allowed just one possession

I would pick her from the garden,To be mine

Ummmm....................

Be careful how you touch her,

For she'll awaken

And sleep's the only freedom,

That she knows

And when you walk into her eyes,

You won't believe

The way she's always payin'

For a debt she never owes

And a silent wind still blows

That only she can hear

And so, she goes

just one victory

i think i am going to try to make this song my new mantra. there is too much going completely and totally wrong in my life, but life isn't all about me. i need to just forget about it and concentrate on the world at large. give me just one victory, LORD! thanks to dear todd, once again, for inspiring, enlightening and entertaining me.

on to a totally different frame of thought........geddy the bird also seems to be quite fond of jane's addiction. freak. hahahahaha!

We've been waiting so long

We've been waiting so long, oh

We've been waiting for the sun to rise and shine

Shining still to give us the wil

lCan you hear me, the sound of my voice?

I am here to tell you I have made my choice

I've been listening to what's been going down

There's just too much talk and gossip going 'round

You may think that I'm a fool but I know the answer

Words become a tool, anyone can use them

Take the golden rule as the best example

Eyes that have seen will know what I mean

Hold that line, baby hold that line

Get up boys and hit 'em one more time

We may be losing now but we can't stop trying

So hold that line, baby hold that line

If you don't know what to do about a world of trouble

You can pull it through if you need to and i

fYou believe it's true, it will surely happen

Shining still, to give us the will

We've been waiting so long, waiting so long

Been waiting so long, waiting so long

Shining still, to give us the will

Bright as the day, to show us the way

Somehow, someday

We need just one victory and we're on our way

We've been prayin' for it all day

And we're fightin' for it all nigh

tTo give us just one victory, it will be all right

We may feel about to fall but we go down fighting

You will hear the call if you only listen

Underneath it all we are here together

Shining still, to give us the will

Now bright as the day, to show us the way

Hold that line, baby hold that line

Get up boys and hit 'em one more time

We may be losing now but we can't stop trying

So hold that line, baby hold that line

Hold that line, baby hold that line

Get up boys and hit 'em one more time

cool change

i need a break/vacation/holiday/retreat/cool change in the worst sort of way, but am pretty sure that it's not going to happen. if you are out there....and you care: pray for me. please.

Time for a cool change

I know that it's time for a cool change

Now that my life is so prearranged

I know that it's time for a cool change
I've never been romantic

And sometimes I don't care

I know it may sound selfish

But let me breathe the air, yeah

Let me breathe the air
